Do you have all the correct updates in hand?  Apple instructions say the
Security Update 10-19-01 goes on before the Installer Update 1.0.  Pick up
Article ID 106176 at Apple's Knowledge Base.  It tells you that OS X (10.1)
must show "Build 5G64."  If it does not, you do not have a good
installation.  Also, check your procecures, restart, Admin user password,
and the rest of it.
