People on this list probably think it's amusing because all those files are at worst a waste of time; Windows exe/ pif/ bat/ etc etc files are completely inert under Mac OS. The only cross-platform viruses you might be concerned about are macros in Word files, even then they will probably have assumed a Windows environment and do nothing on a Mac. So there is little or no chance of you having to replace hard drive or software (even on a PC it's software and data you lose, not a physical hard disk -- warnings like "THIS WILL DESTROY YOUR HARD DISK!!!!" are just bogus). > I understand there can be severe financial and criminal >penalties assessed against those who are found to be responsible. Millions of viruses are emailed every day; so far I think one or two people have ben charged. Look carefully at the full headers, the Received: headers can let you track back where it actually came from, though that can be spoofed (spammers often fake these too).
