Have the client take it back to a certified dealer and have them do it. If you open the case, the warranty is null and void. It's not worth the risk on a brand new machine. You can change the outside stick, but not the internal and that is posted on almost every article I've read about the iMac. It is one of the "drawbacks" of an iMac (there aren't many). I don't know what a place like Fry's charges, but it can't be worth voiding the warranty on a brand new machine.
