Hi all; I just bought a new Maxtor DiamondMax Plus, Kit # ST0154000U, 40GB,7200 RPM HDD, Model D740X-6L. Is this a good drive? It comes with (2) 5.25 inch mounting brackets, double ended ATA cable, extra jumpers and of course no Mac instructions. I've done HDD swaps before, but it was always a Mac with only 1 HDD. I'm guessing on this , but with this kit this drive would go where the optional Zip would be. Am I correct on this? Also I was cautioned about ATA cable length on ATA bus 0. Will the supplied cable work? PeterH, are you lurking out there? What I would like to do is to replace the stock 4 Gig Seagate with the 40 Gig and use the Seagate for other stuff. I already have a 350 Meg HDD on ATA bus 1 as a slave to the CD which I can remove if I have to. Running a Beige G3 266DT Rev 3C OS8.6 with 320 megs ram. Any and all replies greatly appreciated. --Thanks; Rev. George --Maranatha (means the Lord cometh)
