Hello G List Gurus, Having just bought a G3 a week ago I'm new to this list and in need of some newbie help please.
1. This is a beige desktop G3, 233mhz, 128meg (how can I tell whether it's a Rev A, B or C & does it matter?) 2. I have 4 external scsi items one of which is a Zip. They are in exactly the same config as on my previous 7100 which had no trouble. However the Zip seems to be causing trouble on the G3. Sometimes I cannot boot even with a system CD unless the Zip power is disconnected. Leaving it connected to scsi with no power gives no problems. I have tried removing the Zip extension but this does not eliminate crashing. What to do? 3. Outlook Express which I am also using for the first time (it has a few features I prefer over Eudora, my former client) also crashes randomly. I have upped the memory a bit. Any suggestions to crashproof it? 4. Where does OE keep its mail folders? They aren't in the OE main folder. 5. Any of the iTools useful? I using Toast 5 for CRW burning; I gather there's a conflict with Toast & iTunes; stay with Toast? 6. Is it necessary to keep those ATI extensions since this has no video hardware other than the basic card? 7. If you were to add some really useful upgrades what would you suggest? 7.
