AFAIK pre-New World Macs handle YellowDogLinux quite competently ;) They may
even be a little more stable than New World Macs in some respects since the
programmers have had more time to work out the bugs.

YDL 2.1 looked interesting but I was disappointed with its ease-of-use. It
installed fine, but even on my "stock" B&W G3 it had problems.

I have yet to try YDL 2.2 & the new Gnome interface but it looks promising
(though, I'm happy as a clam with OS X 10.1.4 so until Apple jacks up the
price into the stratosphere, or starts releasing updates that require
shelling out big bucks each year, or makes my machine obsolete (more likely
in the distant future... in the next release I don't gain the benefits from
the improved graphics because my video card is too old (ATI Rage 128 16 MB))
I won't be switching to YDL).
