Uh oh. As you may recall from an earlier posting: Symptom: Dead burner.
Solution: Replace with CDR/DVD combo unit. (btw, thanks for the tip on the radeon 7000) New situation: Symptom: Dead Combo. Hmmm, at this point, I wondered if I had just blown $130CDN because I had a bad cable. Swapped cable. Same result, drive has power, but will not show up. I then swapped buses, hard drives (master & slave) into the bus the cdr was using etc... Won't boot, as it can not find the hard drives. Restore hard drives, copy contents of small slave drive to larger one, remove slave and put combo in as slave. Success! But I miss having the second hard drive. It was to be my OSX testbed (after changing it to master). Any suggestions on a test to see how fixable this might be? Or suggestions of a cure? One that does not involve blood sacrifices? A PCI IDE card seems prohibitive, I would be better off to get a USB enclosure at the prices I have seen locally. Andrew -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
