Nick, If you log in as a guest, you can only see shared folders. If you log in as a user on the system, you can see the hard drive. I'm not familiar with OS 9 and below (only joined at X -- I'm a Unix jock) but I seem to recall that you could use guest access below X too. Can you ping one OS X box from the other?
