I have tried both Suitcase 10 and FontAgent X and both have very strange effects in Cocoa applications, specifically TextEdit. I work in graphics and Type 1 fonts are a way of life. Adding in just a sampling of these fonts creates havoc with the Font Panel. Freehand and Illustrator do somewhat better, but fonts appear more than once in the font list and one won't work because the system can't locate the printer font file (outline file) while the other (smae name) will. Mac OS's from 6 - 9 all handled this situation relatively simply, I'm at a loss in OS X and haven't been able to find much information about OS X and font compatibility. I run X all the time now (Classic also for Quark and those fonts activated from Suitcase in Classic work fine). When I add fonts manually, using FontAgent X or Suitcase then the problems begin. It takes 20 seconds just for the Font Panel to appear (spinning disc).
Does anyone have any resource links or first hand info on this situation? Thanks, Bob (Alien: [EMAIL PROTECTED]) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
