If PlusOptimizer is in the middle of a process it will appear to hang the system but actually it is performing a process on the disk, all other activity will be put on hold until the current process is completed. There are many issues that factor into the time frame for optimizing a hard drive with PlusOptimizer. It depends on the state of the drive, the number of files on the drive, the size of the files, and the file fragmentation. If you have large video files or Virtual PC installed on your computer it may take a little longer to optimize (Virtual PC is one file and can be greater than 1Gb in size). PlusOptimizer is very thorough when defragmenting and optimizing your disks. If it takes a little longer than normal, let it run it's doing it's job. Let PlusOptimizer run for about an hour. During this time keep an eye on the progress bar and see if it moves. Also, PlusOptimizer can actually run from the disk you are optimizing but you will not get 100% optimization. PlusOptimizer does not optimize open files so any applications that are open or any fonts that are open will not get optimized."
