Well the architecture of the G5 is quite different from that of the G4. It has a faster system bus (similar to that of the P4 I believe) which I think will be over 266Mhz. Maybe around 400Mhz? Don't know.
And the G4 800 isn't exactly a high end editing machine. It has just a wee bit of cache and that does it a lot of harm. I use a quicksilver 733 at work and every day I'm disappointed with the speed.
