Got a G3 266 tower in a batch dead, dying, and old stuff. In my
first attempts to power it up, the power supply fan would come on
sometimes. Then not at all.
After I read some stuff in one of the repair and upgrade bibles about
the reset button on the motherboard, I plugged in the power cord,
pressed the reset, and pushed the power button on the front of the
case, the fan came on again, but no boot sounds or hard drive noises.
Since that one time, no more fan workings and no other indications of
life when plugged in and power button pushed.
The hard drive and ram work in a G3 AIO, but the motherboard would
not. Neither did the AIO motherboard work in the tower. These swaps
were before the last time the fan worked.

I'm not a computer technician (hard to believe, huh?) and I don't
have any test gear other than a multimeter, a screw driver, and a
large hammer. How can I determine what's at fault so I can think
about either replacing that piece or parting out the rest of the good
stuff?
Thanks
