I'm not sure what you mean here, I have OS X and OS9.1 on a 
partitioned 20Gig drive in two partitions, I have a 5Gig partition 
for X and the rest is OS 9 (I keep most of my Apps etc on a seperate 
40Gig) How big is the drive? Have you tried pulling the G4, and 
putting back the original ZIF, and installing XLR8, and then putting 
back the G4. I seem to remeber a reference to this in an xlr8yourmac 
submission.

Both, when you partition the top partition in Drive Setup is the first 8Gb.
