or in some cases, bimbo.... that's how i feel about rush fans who are
dumb enough to suck his, uh, garbage up! by the way, my emotional and
intellectual growth could hardly be described as arrested, and i am
coming up on 40 all to soon! capitalism is good, if it's balanced.

the problem with most businesses and society, and even individuals, in
general is that no one seems to understand the concept of balance any
more, it's all push it this way or that as hard as you can for as long
as you can. this off balance approach is in fact what leads to enron
and crooked politicians and clowns like rush limburger. most small
companies still have owners, and they still usually feel responsible for
what their company does (or are at least held legally liable), the
problem is that in big corporations, no one owns them completely, there
is no "soul", there is no acceptance of any responsibility for anything
except profit, and everyone tries to take credit for that, but ask them
about their misdeeds and no one is willing to accept responsibility.
it's not about blame, it's about responsibility, accountability, and
accepting the consequences of your actions, good and bad. even if you
are just one cog in the machine, you are responsible for what you do and
what you facilitate (especially if your a cog at the top!). it seems
terribly wrong to me that we need new laws to make ceo's responsible for
what they sign. any one who signs anything should accept ownership of
it's contents and all outcomes of that signature, to do otherwise is to
pretend that your signature is worthless, which would be fine if those
involved also stopped signing personal checks and credit card tickets,
but they seem to have no problem taking responsibility for that.

the fact of the matter is corruption runs very, very deep at the top end
of the corporate world and in politics. companies and corporations
routinely get away with things that would get a normal person thrown in
jail, in fact they often get away with far more. "steal a little and
they'll throw you in jail, steal allot and they'll make you king", seems
to still be far too true. it's time for people to wake up and demand
accountability from corporate leaders, politicians, news people, and
educators, all of whom have conspired to dumb down the public so big
business can continue unchallenged, and so that politicians can continue
to get away with murder and stupidity while giving the public only
"sound bites" and "photo ops". we must hold our business and political
leaders responsible in the same way that an average citizen is held
responsible for thier actions and the outcomes. those in business and
politics who allow and profit from misdeeds like dealing with china are
in part responsible for supporting that terrible regime, and a country
which is fundamentally an enemy and a real threat, yet we send them
money and buy things made by slave labor in "re-education" camps, coming
soon to a town near you! ;)

our goverment has made a mess of things, because they are corrupt and in
the pockets of corporate america, which is not only corrupt but short
sighted and often down right incompetetant. we all pay for this
corruption, wether it is the loss of value in our retirement funds or
terrorism which flourishes because we have infact abused people all over
the world because of short sighted policies. we've allowed power
vacuums to develop, and then we act surprised when they are filled by
despots. it's allot cheaper to do the right thing, not take advantage
of people, and help democracy and well regulated free enterprise to
spread than it is to try and stop all the enemies you otherwise create
and trying to clean up the mess when you fail.

this is really, really getting off topic, i'm surprised the nanny hasn't
chimed in yet, they should, but meanwhile i'll continue to respond to
the ignorant, and those ignorant of history and cause and effect. you
sow the seeds, you reep the crop, don't be surprised if it's rag weed!

Ernest Hemingway once said "The world is a fine place, and worth
fighting for", i agree with the second part (from the movie s7ven, and
my own sentiments). Philip Stortz, Mad Scientist At Large, available to
save worlds large or small, or at least to try, to fight the good fight.
