Basically John you only have a few choices thanx to the "mac support" of
past present and future for pci-3d cards. AGP would be, and is entirely
different / pci is being phased out as far as 3d cards go. Logic being not
many people are going to put a new $300 3d card in a $400 machine. Im not
even sure that anyone is making pci cards anymore last I heard of was
the radeon7000. And I think the only way you can get a new Geforce PCI in a
Mac is to flash one<not advised>, since as in the 3dfx voodoo3 days, there
arent any pci/mac 3d cards.

as far as NEW goes I think the only choice is a Radeon 7000.
(99.00-online/retail 115-ebay)
you may still luck up and find a Radeon "Mac Edition" in package.
(180+ used/ebay)
...I think ATI put out a Nexus128/64mb -but I know nothing about them.

if you play fast computer games stay away from the 7000.

only other real choices that I know of are for 16mb and above are used:
ati rage ...II & pro
voodoo3,4,5 <not osX friendly> - I wouldnt advise a V4 <unless a mac version
and inexpensive>

Im a PCI 3d user myself , If you want what seems like a PCI/MAC users last
hope at a top of the line 3d card I would hunt down a new or used version of
the ATI Radeon Mac Edition. Its a pretty much all enclusive 32mb card. For
the bus speed of an older mac <beige g3's included@66> anything above 32mb's
will be overkill.

If you want to spend around $30-$40 you can find a used RageII or a Voodoo3

If you want to spend around $50-$75 you can find a used RagePro or a Voodoo5

around $80-$100 you can find a Radeon 7000

a Mac Edition Radeon you should be able to find $150-$200

BTW: from experience I can say that a PC Voodoo3 and Voodoo5 can be flashed
to MAC pretty easily. back and forth as well.

oh...if you just want a card for a 2nd monitor you can pick up a used ATI
Twin Turbo or a Voodoo2 for around $10-$15 <neither are 3d cards>
