Probably. If it's a simple table (eg a list of name, address, tel, etc)
then the above is certainly true. 
If you want it to have intelligence, then you need a more complex
interchange format.
For instance, an Excel spreadsheet should preserve simple functions and
relationships. Take care with date and currency formats, experiment a
little to see they work cleanly.
