For optimizing , I have used Xoptimize v0.42. It's not a deluxe package (freeware!) and I can't compare it to Norton in Classic mode. What does Pacifist do? MacJanitor is nice, even if I don't really know what it does. The de-frag debate on MacSlash (or Slash) causes more confusion than sheds light. Apple has to publish the terminal commands for OSX users - or they'll go back to Classic (not quite dead!) or switch to Linux (plenty of free help on user-groups and ngs). This is what happens when proprietary types sink their teeth into GNU. And who will defend the GNUs, now? George
