Hi gang, Recently acquired a G3 All-In-One (Rev B, I believe) that's been upgraded w/500 MHz G4 ZIF: 768 MB RAM, stock 24X CD-ROM, 3-port FireWire card, 2-port USB card, and just added Radeon 7000. Made sure to update to OS X 10.1.5 before installing the Radeon, seems to be working OK so far (first time I've ever used the extended desktop 8^O).
The Maxtor DiamondMax Plus hard drive started giving me problems last week, so I've temporarily replaced it with an Apple OEM IBM 4.3 GB SCSI drive...with fresh installs of OS 9.2.2 and OS X 10.1.5. Now, after extended periods of use (2-3 hours), the system tends to freeze on me....in OS X, no less! No force quit or other keyboard combo works - frozen tight. I have to turn the machine off with the rear power switch before I can restart. I thought hard crashes were virtually unheard of in OS X...? Has anybody experienced anything similar with upgraded Gossamer systems? Do you think getting another IDE/ATA hard drive installed, instead of the current SCSI drive, will make any difference? Anybody got a clue...? Pax, --- Gene, a.k.a. G-Man Friends don't let friends do Windows -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
