this is what i do

toast comes with a a little app called toast audio extractor
its pretty much automatic all you have to do is select the tracks you want
my personal method for burning audio cd's is to create a disk copy image
volume of about 850mb and copy the tracks to that and burn from that.
before burning i defrag the audio volume so the that tracks are contiguous
this makes for a cleaner burn. (some do it from a ram disk - but not many
of us have a spare 850mb of ram to play with)
if i'm burning music for the car i'll import tracks into soundedit 16 and
add some reverb to make up for the cars poor acoustics - but that may
be a bit to much info for your question and it's just a personal preference
(if i'm being really anal i'll "top and tail" the tracks, that is i'll remove any
excess (imho) from either end of the track. (makes the track 5 or 10 secs
smaller and hence over an entire 74 minute cd you can gain an extra (assuming
4 minutes a track) 90 secs to 180 secs off EXTRA music space WOOHOO!!!

btw you may be thinking why an 850mb volume when a 74 minute cd only holds
650mb of data. to be honest i don't know why but a 650mb volume comes up
about 15mins short for audio data (assuming you want to use the a whole
74 mins - plus you need room for the defrag - 800mb is about right for 74
mins of music)

i've waffled a bit
