The heatsink and hard drive bracketing aren't features of the logic
board; you can easily have a Rev 2 board in a Rev 1 case. (I do.) The
forbidden reference shows 2 board revs (with part number):
Logic Board Rev. 1 661-2104
Rev. 2 661-2194
Unfortunately, Apple doesn't actually print the part number on the
board. But, since I have one of each on hand, the boards are labeled:
Rev 1 - "820-0987-A"
Rev 2 - "820-1049-A"
Only the portion in quotes is on the board, which is printed on the
front edge, midway between the ZIF and memory sockets.
The ROM revision numbers tell you what version was burned into the chip.
But, since the ROM is flashable, either board could have the latest
revision.
