I have purchased 30+ Maxtor drives in the last three years (can ya tell I like 'em) In the last 6 months tho, of 4 40GB 740DX, 2 died within 30 days (and were promptly replaced with 40GB fluid bearing drives :) and of 9 new Dells (sorry) with cheap Maxtor drives, 2 had bad bearing growl and had to be replaced.
