I've found that to upload pictures without hangups I need to take everything but the camera off the usb bus. To output dv files to my video camera from IMovie via firewire, usb must be disabled. (DV into the computer works fine with everything running.) Some have said these limitations have to do with the combo board bandwidth, but I'm not sure it isn't limitations of the computer's pci bus.
