the dvi connection is all digital and will provide a much better picture than the vga connector. if you use dvi, the signal stays digital until the flat panel drives the lcd, if you use vga, it's converted to analog for the cable, and then the flat panel has to convert it back to digital increasing distortion and losing some timing precision. don't expect to see the "adc" connector on anything other than macs, it's apples attempt to make things proprietary and grab a bigger share of the peripheral market by being nonstandard.
there is another digital "standard" out there, many companies are waiting for one or the other to become "THE" standard and the other to die off, sort of like when vcr's came out and there was a betamax and a vhs standard, as soon as betamax died off allot more tapes were available since they didn't have to duplicate them to 2 standards and stores didn't have to stock to versions of each title.
