Hi All -

Well, I bit the bullet this morning and installed 10.2 on my Rev. A
Beige G3. First the specs: Formerly 233mhz, upgraded to 366. 256MB
Ram (was more, but I only left in the two identical pc133/128meg chips
for the install), USB PCI card (nothing connected during the install),
internal ZIP, Internal TEAC CDRW replacing the original CD drive, 16meg
Rage Orion PCI card with attached monitor (nothing on the original
video card), WD 40gig HD with 4 partitions - OS X on the first 7 gig
one, 9.1 on another. Installation was an upgrade from 10.1.5, which
was running quite well.

My report is a good one. It installed in about 35 - 40 minutes with no
problems, blank screens or other errors. Rebooted once after counting
down when finished with the first CD then prompted me to install the
second CD and installation proceeded without a hitch. I'm writing this
from the OS 10.2 mail application. I haven't noticed a great speed
improvement from 10.1.5, but I haven't played around with it for long
yet. I like the improvements to the applications, especially Mail
which now seems to be a full fledged e-mail program. Haven't tried
iChat since I'm not much of a chatter and don't have a .mac or aol
account. Everything else seems to run fine.

I'm sure that I'll have more to report later, but I did want to let
folks know that it could be done. Obviously YMMV, and from the many
reports that I read may vary greatly, but at least it worked for me.
Feel free to write me off-list if you want any details or updates.
