<< So I'm back to square one trying to find where I can get one of these AV personality cards, without having to buy a whole, used G3 mini tower somewhere and pick its bones. Anyone with any knowledge of these and where I might buy a replacement, please let me know! It's just not the same without my the TV window running. >>
The code name for the Beige G3's A-V card is "Wings". These cards often appear on e-bone under that name, but the price of the card alone is often more than what you can buy a complete machine for. I think there were at least three different transition cards for the Beige G3, and the "Wings" is the most complete, and therefore the most desirable. I have a Beige G3 DT with the basic A-in, A-out ... no V. I had a Beige G3 MT with the basic A-in, A-out ... no V ... and also a 56K modem. A truly forgettable modem. I now have a Beige G3 MT with a "Wings". The A-V feature in the 8600 must have been pretty reasonable, as these 8600s were used for "off line" (non-linear) editing of TV programs and motion pictures. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
