If DVD player won't work for you, you might try vlc (see version 
tracker or <http://www.videolan.org/>)

There is a hack for DVD Player at: 
<http://www.macbidouille.com/niouzcontenu.php?date=2002-08-26>, though 
the patch wouldn't apply for me
