or SoundJam aren't. Sound App 2.7.3 can convert files to a variety of
formats including MP3. It works great in OS 9.2.2, but isn't compatible with
OS X yet. It is also a sound editor that allows you to edit and manipulate
the sounds, and plays in the MIDI format. It's not designed as a player,
more editor and converter. You already have iTunes, why pay for another
player? I use it to automatically convert incoming files by choosing it as
a file helper under preferences in Internet Explorer. Simply install it and
place it in your internet applications folder or the internet utilities
folder. The free file converter called iTunes Associator 1.6 I use as a
drag and drop utility to convert all downloaded files from Limewire Pro or
MacSatellite into the iTunes format. After downloading all files into your
download folder, simply select them all and drag them over onto the
Associator icon and it's done! Just that fast! Your files will all show up
with the iTunes icon within seconds. It's very handy, fast, and also free.
It also works in OS X. The download also includes iTunes Associator 1.6
Pro, which is very powerful, and will convert virtually any file to the
iTunes format. You can find Sound App and iTunes Associator 1.6 and Pro 1.6
(included in the 1.6 download file) at the below links:

the most current sound app is 2.7.3, however, a newer version is under way
and should be released in the very near future.

I hope these will be helpful to you. I'm certain you will like both Sound
App and iTunes Associator for their ease of use, reliability, and you can't
beat the price!!! These are just a couple of many really neat apps you can
get free for the iTunes product. There are quite a few free iTunes helpers
or program enhancers that make using iTunes much easier and more enjoyable.

BTW, I have no affiliation with either company that produces these apps, or
their subsidiaries. I just happen to have used them both for a couple of
years and really like them and their price :) !
