There's also PowerMenu which add extra features to the ctrl-click pop-up. I very found of "Open with..." which gives the ability to ctrl-click a document, and then choose from a submenu which app I'd like to use. There's also "Open with running app..." and "Quicklaunch..." which is where I keep the apps that I use frequently, but not everyday and thus wont be in the "Recent apps" in the Apple Menu. I've been using it from sys version 7.5.3 over 8.5.1/8.6 and now with 9.1. BTW, to stay a bit on topic of the original question, - I have my download folder as a "popup fan" (what are you calling those in english?) in the bottom right of the screen, then I just drag whatever I want to download to it and drop it.
