I will have a PowerMac G4, dual 500 MHz version, fairly soon (within a
week, probably). I will probably want to burn CDs at some point, but
the included drive is a DVD-RAM which I don't think I'll use for
anything other than playing DVDs (for which a DVD-ROM drive would do).
I have a few options:

1. Simply find a good deal on an external FireWire CD-RW and get that.
2. Get an internal CD-RW for cheap and put it in a FireWire case.
3. Since I won't be burning CDs very often, I don't need a really fast
burner. Therefore, I could opt for a really cheap USB burner, like the
Iomega Predator at $70. Even though it's only 4x, that's okay. Again, I
won't be burning CDs very often. But it may still get frustrating,
especially if I enjoy burning CDs and I start doing it more often.
4. Sell the DVD-RAM and get a combo drive (CD-RW/DVD-ROM). I don't need
DVD burning but I would like to be able to read DVDs. My concern with
this is that I may have to get an Apple OEM drive in order to boot from
it. Is it possible to get any old combo drive and use that, or must I
use one made by Apple?

Also, I'm not looking to spend more than $100... I spent quite a bit of
money to get the computer and monitor, and now I'm a bit low. I will be
selling my laptop once I get the tower, but I still don't have lots of
cash to throw around.
