One thing that I have decided after working on alot of PC's is that Mac computers are not built as practical as PC's. The only exceptions were the ones Power Computing made. Now those were well deisgned. And it was recognized as such by all the Mac Journalists at the time. The 73XX is praised as a good design but when I look at a Dell Optiplex right next to it , the Dell is a much simpler and functional design. On the right side you have 3 bays that you easily insert a CD rom and a CD burner and a zip drive. And they are screwed down by just using screws which screwed right into the metal frame; whereas with Apple designs, you have these endless sleds and bezels that add to the cost. Look at what you have to do to just add a Zip drive. You have to purchase a Zip bezel and then you have to purchase this metal rack to raise the Zip drive up. A case in point, the original 24x CD rom that came with my Beige G3 roared and whirred so load that you could not listen to Audio CDs. I later purchased a faster CD rom and I ended up putting that Apple 24x CD rom in a PC which which screwed to metal frame and it was as quite as a mouse. Those sleds just add more to the vibration and noise. I wish I could just purchase an ATX Mac motherboard and build one. The iMac and G4 towers are OK but I think Mac users need more choices. I hope in the future Apple goes in this direction. Right now my only real alternative is Linux. -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup "Free price comparison tool gives you the best prices and cash back!" http://www.bestbuyfinder.com/download.htm -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
