Hello, G-Listers
Here's my problem.
Have a PM8500 with OS 9.0 installed and running.
When I got the computer, it had OS 8.0 and I subsequently upgraded it
to 8.6 and then, 9.0 with the intention of a final upgrade to 9.1 or
9.2.
I downloaded the 9.1 upgrade from the Apple Support site. However,
when I tried to open it for installation, I got a message telling me
that Stuffit Expander couldn't open it and I needed CarbonLib. I
then found CarbonLib, again at the Apple Support site and downloaded
it, but again, I couldn't open it because, again, Stuffit Expander
needed CarbonLib to do the job.
So as it now stands, I can't open what I need to open and install the
upgrade. CarbonLib is in my extensions folder, but greyed out.
CarbonLib is also in the Extensions Manager and checked but the icon
is also greyed out, indicating it is non-operative. I looked in
Extensions Disabled, but it isn't there. I did move some things
from the "Previous Systems Folder" file before trashing it, and it's
entirely possible CarbonLib went into the trash.

The question is, how do I activate CarbonLib so I can move on up the
OS ladder ? Do I need to retreat to the original 8.0 and reinstall
from there or is there a more viable solution to the problem. Any
help will be appreciated.
