He means on the DVD drive tray itself. They sometimes come with clip-on
front panel to seal the unit from interloping dust and rubbish. They
usually unclip by lifting out at the bottom of the tray and sliding off
in the up vertical kinda direction.

I know my LG DVD/CD-RW has one but it's a pig to get off. I tend to
take them off as a matter of habit to clean older Apple drives. FWIW my
buddy had a 733MHz Quicksilver G4 (July 2001) and it had a black Sony
CD-RW in it with front panel in tact. I dunno - I have never seen a
mirror-door (or should that be mirador ;) ) G4 so I dunno.

You could try swapping the drives over and trying it tin the other bay
if your gonna take both out to (potentially) mod the tray. I assume you
are trying to fit it in the bottom bay right? Might only fit the top
bay? The stock drive (DVD/CD-RW???) is likely to fit in either bay, I
do know for sure when I was pricing a machine up for a friend in the
Apple Store they only offer the DVD-R/CD-RW in the top bay.... All
seems a bit crazy to me!
