I had recently put a Radeon 7000 in a Beige MT with a 266 mhz G3 processor
and it worked fine, a little slower than a Voodoo3 3000 on 2D stuff, but
livable since I am going to try Jag soon.

I just got a G4 533 from OWC and followed their install directions, using
the PowerLogix Cache enabler software. My system would freeze just after
all extentions loaded and the desktop started to appear -- 1 or 2 icons
would show up and then I would get a hard freeze that only hitting the
power button to restart would cure.

After spending a couple of hours playing extention roulette, I found that I
could get video out of the Radeon if I disabled an ATI extention that
basically gave me the video speed of my 6100, not what I paid $95 for.

I called OWC and they said that they don't know about any problems between
their 533 G4 zif and the Radeon. ATI said that they don't support upgraded
machines and since it ran on the 266, it wasn't their problem.

I went back to Powerlogix's site and saw that they say to install BOTH the
Cache enabler AND Altivec Enabler. BINGO!!!

The Radeon works perfect. I haven't played any games with it yet, but
Netscape 7 SCREAMS as far as drawing pages is concerned.

Anyway, I just wanted anyone looking at the Radeon to know about this fix.
