Having problems getting Voodoo5 PCI video card to run. Getting no video signal to my monitor at all. I have a Beige G3, 256 mb RAM, OS 9.1 (only), 433 mhz G3 NewerTech zif (overclocked 400).
I got a voodoo 5 video card from a pc user and after downloading a driver package from http://www.voodoofiles.com (identified as version 1.1.2) and moving the extensions to the system folder, I put the card in my mac, connected the power cable and the video cable, restarted. Nothing. Tried again. Card is firmly in 1st slot (closest to power supply and VRAM). There were also a couple "install" apps in the download but when I tried to run them , said "insert macvoodoo disk" which I dont have. Does the voodoo 5 video card have to be "flashed" to change the rom from pc to mac like the Voodoo3 ? I was under the impression that it didn't. The driver pkg that I DL'd included the following extensions, which I manually inserted in the extensions folder: 3dfx GlideLib2.x 3dfx GlideLib3.x 3dfx Graphics Accelerator 3dfx OpenGL Renderer 3Dfx Rave all these have date of 11/15/00 There was also an app called 3dfx MacTools which sherlock identifies as a control panel so I put it with them but it doesnt do anything when i click on it. Do I need other extensions I may not have? I noticed that a 3dfx preferences file was created- I didnt put it in the prefs folder. No previous video cards have been in this mac. I read some instructions I had for a voodoo 3 card. I took off my VGA adapter from the original monitor socket. No help. The only voodoo 5 instructions I have are for windows - came w/ card on cd. The fans on the card run so I know it's getting power. Can anyone point me to a site that would help? NckUtah (George) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
