Hi Listers. Has anyone encountered a problem booting up onto a drive with OSX that soon after the happy mac, you find yourself in UNIX-land with the following text:
/etc/master.passwd: No such file or directory ?? I've recovered by just unplugging that drive and resetting the startup disk but haven't a clue as to the nature of the problem or how to solve it. Using a B&W G3, (OSX v10.1, I believe) I've done this regularly in the past without a hitch. Yes, I recently added a PCI SCSI card but the problem occurs even when that is disconnected. Thanks in advance for any insights. -Said -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
