Is it impossible to run Mac OS X on the Apple Power Macintosh 9600 that featured twin 604e processors? I figure it would because of the system RAM weighing in at a lowly 32 megabytes. I wonder what kind of performance this machine delivered and could potentially deliver if unleashed with Mac OS X. I assume it did not fare well at all on the market since it cost upwards of $4,000 and the native Mac OS did not offer MP support.
I am so glad Apple had the vision to create OS X with MP support to cater to the buyers who overlooked Megahertz and opted to spend a couple thousand dollars for dual processor G4 Power Macs. Now we are seeing our Macs unleashed, and it is a glorious thing. I hope Apple continues to develop and produce dual configuration machines, further enabling Mac users to own the fastest desktop consumer machines in the world. I just wonder if the next generation PowerPC will play friendly with other chips of its kind. But back to the topic, the Power Macintosh 9600/200MP & OS X.. is it possible? regards, justin -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
