i had a feeling it may have something to do with that. in the old 
powerbook 1400 i had a while back there was a 'battery reconditioner' 
that basically de-charged the battery and then fully charged it. it was 
specifically to deal with a problem like this.

i'm gonna see if theres something on the net that may do this to an 
iPod....
