You are lucky.  It's actually a known issue on how OS 9 handles memory after
sleep.  That is why there was so much buzz  about OS X and it's ability to
sleep and wake with no problems.

Actually it may not be known outside of the Apple doors, unless someone
caught a clue after loosing data from crash after repeatedly putting their
unit to sleep over a period of time.  I used to work for Apple and it was
discussed there, but not sure if a published TIL or Kbase article was
released to the public showing how bad OS 9 sucks when it comes to sleep.
That probably wouldn't sell too many computers.
