Yes, it is true. All 3 of the remaining B&W G3's at the office I work 
for; have had the their Firewire ports burn out. It also happens on the 
first generation G4's. I also have two G4's with Burned out Firewire 
ports. The only way to fix it, it buy a PCI firewire card. I recommend 
Adaptec, they make good ones.
