Hi, folks I'm having a problem with a HP Deskwriter 600. The problem is getting it to print. I've downloaded and installed the Deskwriter 600 series driver from the HP site. The 600 icon appears in the Chooser. When I select it and confirm in the Chooser (selecting the printer port) it shows as the selected printer. However, when I try to print, the application from which I try to print doesn't recognize the printer. I've tried printing from two different applications, MS Word and Eudora, and neither will recognize the printer or print. MS Word and Eudora will not open Page Support or print any text. The text does not spool to the printer. The printer powers up and is connected to the proper port and runs a test print page. I've tried using another cable but that doesn't help. I don't have the original installation disks for this printer any more, so I can't reinstall the software. I'm leaning towards seeing this as a software problem and I'm trying to find a set of installation disks for sale or trade. I guess I'm looking for confirmation that this is my problem so I don't have to go floundering around looking for a solution. I did have an Epson Stylus Pro hooked up and running with this computer (OS 9.0) and it worked great, but damage to the print head (don't ask) and a $75 repair estimate sent me back to my old HP600. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you -- Lee Freedman Fort Bragg, CA
