I want to format with Mac's Drive setup (from 9.2.1) some external firewire drives - I had originally set them up with the mfgs software. But just learned that they must formatted with Mac OS extended which I have already done. Mac's Erase Disk won't change the drive icon to the mac icon, so I am assuming its not a truely mac formatted drive yet. When I go to Mac's Drive Setup it shows there is something connected via firewire, but it won't allow me to erase or reformat it. It says "unable to initialize - unsupported drive". The drives say they are MacOS Extended - but I also want to be able to low-level format them before I put files on them. A listmember had said he low level formats them or they are kind of flaky. Sure don't want to be copying 120 gigs all over again.
