I recently picked up a DVD Ram drive pulled from a G4 for my beige MT. After a couple of uses-playing a couple of DVDs, using a DVD ram disk for backup etc, I realized that 3 optical drives was overkill, so I sold it off on the swap list. It was always pretty loud, but it was consistant, so I did not think the noise was something to worry about.
The buyer is having the following problem, and I would like to help him because of my no DOA guarantee. The disk I sent him, which I used then formatted to blank before I sent it to him says that it is locked and it can't be used and then ejects it. Today he picked up a new Panasonic 4.7 and put it in. Got the "disk is unreadable, Do you want to format it". Then when he does it, it refuses to format and spits the disk out. Then it again tells him the disk is locked, even though the write protect switch is off in the portable tray on a brand new disk. Get the same msg when I put the bare disk in. Clearly there is something wrong with it which is telling the system that these disks can't be written to. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks, Len -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
