You can probably find a Comm-slot modem for cheap. However, realize that both 
the Apple-branded and the Global Village/Boca modem have serious problems 
holding onto connections and giving you decent speed over any but perfect 
phone lines. I am not sure about USB solutions but you should run MacOS 9.1 
or 9.2 to make sure you have decent USB support. Most PCI modems are 
Losemodems (actually Winmodems but you know what I mean) so they would not 
run under MacOS.

In short: get Broadband. Every Blue-And-White has 100 base T ethernet, so you 
are well-set for Broadband.
