I did find it a much simpler solution removing the front cover of my Lite-On 48x24x48 CDRW. The tray actually would come out on my Beige G3 DT but if you would place a monitor on top or anything slightly heavy it would prevent the tray from coming out. But using simple fine sand paper seemed to adqequately shave down the little bit that prevented from coming out.
This CDRW is definitely very nice. I also noticed some improvements with the Toast 5.2 updates, especially in OS X. My images would not open Toast 5.1.4 when I double clicked them. I had to drop the image on the Toast app to get it to open but with 5.2 everything works pretty good. I also don't get those odd folders anymore in OS X. I don't know if anyone else ever got them and knows what I mean. BTW: I did find that you cannot just pop the front cover out. It has 2 tabs on the bottom that you can pop out from underneath with a screwdriver but then you have to pull the front cover upward to slide it out, as the ends are in a grove. You just might break those groves if you force it outward, rather than sliding upward. Just a little detail. I've broken too many tabs in my days to just start poping things out when I don't exactly know what I am doing.
