G'day to all, 'specially Clae

I've been zipping around, following Clae's leads, which he eMailed me.
Looks like this is highly do-able, with plenty of free-ware Mac Apps (&
PC ones, which I'm avoiding, grin).

I haven't downloaded anything yet, as I've switched over to Jaguar, &
thought I'd never have to go back to 8.6 or 9.2.2. Ah well.

If anyone is familiar with the free Mac midi Applications, I'd
appreciate guidance. There's so many, I don't want to have to download &
test all of them. Something basic, & graphics driven preferably.

Clae. If you catch up with Daya, and don't mind pitching in, I
thought of the following. They can get lots of other stuff knocked up
for peanuts in Sri Lanka, and one of your sites had do-it-yerself kits
that ran 128 devices in midi. I would think they can get something
similar made up, and while they're at it, may as well get lots more
added for future. They're used to finding funding, so might have a go. I
don't think any Oz firm would come at it (if any USA types don't know
that saying, read 'The Magic Pudding', with it's 'cut & come again'
pudding).

In addition, a big buddist temple is being built here in Bendigo,
apparently with a lot of Taiwanese buddist backing. They just might get
something manufactured there for zilch. Wase of time me trying to
explain to Daya what's require ('specially since I don't know!), but if
you could write it down and give it to him, I would appreciate it.
Ideally, something that would interface with Mac/PC would be great, then
they can pick any platform. eMail me about it if you like.

I think they could pick up a heap of 5v/240v relays while they're at it,
or even the type of midi controlled dimmers you sent me to look at.

They might even be able to get a dimmer rack made up for just a few
channels. Don't know if either of them would be legal in Oz, but.

I have done some Applescripting, but it's a bit sloooow. Don't know how
it would go re switching speed. Probably they'll only need 5 or so
sequential switches per second, but if they don't have to make new darn
drums, they might instead spend their time adding circuits, adding to
the burden. Also, the simultaneous switching would be a tad sequential I
think.

If they can get something manufactured cheaply, might as well go for broke.

Regards

Santa
