Go get a cable router (like Linksys, Netgear, etc), do not pass Go, do not collect $200 ;-). They're down to as low as $50 and definitely worthwhile; they'll do what you want and more. As for a Mac, get any of the current tower crop and I'd suspect you would be quite happy.
