Hi all,
I'm new to the G-list. I posted this problem over at
the DealMac forum as well.

I upgraded my standard AGP "Sawtooth" G4 (400mhz with
10/100enet) with a new (actually refurbed) Gigabit
ethernet motherboard and appropriate 22pin power
supply. The problem is I can't get the thing to boot
past the flashing Mac folder icon and question mark.
It chimes up fine, video comes up, then I get that
damn blinking icon. I did all the usual things, the
RAM shuffle, reset the mobo, changed the battery,
tried booting from the OS 9 CD, and yet nothing.

I used the original 400mhz processor card and Rage Pro
AGP video card from my previous configuration. I
suspect that the processor card is somehow not
compatible with the gigabit mobo. What am I missing
here? Do I need to reconfigure some jumpers on my
processor or is this processor fundamentally not
compatible with the Gig-E board? I put everything back
as it was and it fired up no problem so I know that
the original components are good. Could the gigabit
mobo be bad? One other anomaly is that the power on
button on the tower doesn't light up nor does it
function (the restart button works) when I have the
gigabit board in there but it does when I put the
original 10/100 enet board back in. Help! I'm pulling
my hair out here. I would really like to get this
thing running. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ray T
