I have a small network of macs running 8.1 (ppc pb 540), 8.6 (7100 G3), 8.6 (6300),
and 9.2.1 on a Beige G3 DT. Since I upgraded to 9.2.1 my networking via appletalk
ethernet has caused either system "hangs" when the G3 is chosen from the Chooser of
the older OS machines. Then I need to reboot and when I reboot the Apple Talk dialog
comes
on during startup and the G3 mounts on the respective desktop of each older machine.
However, on each machine the dropdown menus then are drawn quite sluggishly and there
are no sounds. I zap the pram, the machine restarts. The sluggishness is gone and the
sound comes back. But if try the Chooser the machines hang again. With 9.1 they all
worked just fine. Any suggestions or options. I am eventually going to try 10.2 and
see if that solves it, but in the mean time I'd like to be able to do file sharing
between the machines. jw
