The primary difference is the TCL (transform, clipping, and lighting) engine on the Radeon PCI. The Radeon 7000 omits the TCL engine, which is why it's cheaper. The 7000's GPU, however, has a higher clock speed which somewhat compensates. Games that use the TCL, like Quake 3, will benefit from the original Radeon, but not all games can take advantage of the TCL. Personally, I'd go with the 7000, since it's less expensive and has the higher GPU speed (helpful in 2D applications).
