Does anyone have experience, either Pro or Con with installing OS 10.2.+ to a G4 processor upgrade on a beige G3 desktop, originally a beige G3 desktop 300mhz. I am looking to purchase a G4 ZIF upgrade, probably a 400 or 450 mhz, of either the PowerLogix or XLR8 variety. It is of particular note that right now because of the "demise" of XLR8 their upgrades are 60 to 80 dollars cheaper, but I have been told that there are OS 10.2 compatibility issues for these upgrade processors, which may or may not get resolved. This is allegedly not at issue with the PowerLogix ZIF upgrades.
I have no first hand experience with upgrade processor installation, so any experiences, good or bad, will be appreciated. My other question is whether it is possible to print to a Apple Laserwriter Pro 630 from OS 10.2. I have heard not, but it would seem that since the LR Pro 630 has an ethernet port that there should be a way to do it, if not directly, then through an ethernet network via another Mac with OS 9.1 or earlier ? Thank you for any help with the understanding of these issues. Don Parsons -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
